in the past The Highbury Fields Association was founded in 1975 largely in response to the dire threat of Dutch Elm Disease which had arrived in the country earlier in the year, with devastating effect. Those who created the Association realised from the outset that its activities would extend way beyond that particular crisis. Some of the campaigns we have been involved in can be seen at achievements. |
One of our concerns is to conserve the Victorian heritage of the Fields. The origins and a brief history of the Fields can be found at history. We publish an annual newsletter in October. This contains the Chairman’s Report giving a review of the year and contributions from members on the burning issues of the day. It’s fascinating to see how some matters are resolved, some seem to be intractable and some keep cropping up time and again. To view or save back issues of the newsletter, go to newsletters. |
